Little Bit About Us

The year was 2007. The place was Garden Valley, Texas. It began as an acquaintance, blossomed into a beautiful friendship, and grew to be the greatest love story ever told. Just kidding. We're not that cheesy. But we do love cheese. And adventure. Which is why we both decided to attend Teen Mania's Honor Academy in Texas right after high school where we knew nobody, but did know that we wanted to be challenged, stretched, and to grow as individuals. Matt came from Hazleton, PA and Rachel from Port Saint Lucie, FL. After graduation in August of 2008, we moved our friendship into a dating relationship and were married a year and a half later. We were young, but we knew what we wanted and we were absolutely ready to be committed to each other in marriage. We have been married now for three years and are happier and more in love now than the day we said I do!

We lived in Lynchburg, VA for the first year and a half of our marriage, where we both attended Liberty University, accrued lots of school debt, then proceeded to drop out of college because of our lack of direction, worked two jobs (both of us), and by the grace of God paid off our student loans. After plenty of prayer and seeking direction, we decided to pack our bags and move to Florida so Matt could pursue a degree in Agronomy at The University of Florida. He always knew he wanted to work outdoors and do something with farming, but could never quite pinpoint what exactly he wanted to do. And at the time, we thought this was it. Unbeknownst to us, God would be changing our plans...for the better. In the spring of 2012, just before we would be gaining our Florida residency so that Matt could attend UF at a decent price, we came across the documentary Fresh. It completely changed our lives and from that moment we both knew that we were going to be sustainable, grass-based farmers. We began looking more into the work and writings of well-known farmer and author Joel Salatin. What we learned excited us even more and we developed an unstoppable passion for sustainable farming. We are extremely driven and are working tirelessly toward our dream. Not only will we get to be together every day, run a business together, raise our family in an environment that heals, nurtures, develops character, strength, integrity and a strong work ethic, but we also get to heal the land, steward the animals that God has placed in our care, and raise and sell outstanding products that help others to become healthier, happier, and altogether better. What an amazing privilege! We are so excited and honored that we have this opportunity, and we are going forward, step-by-step, day-by-day, and walking through every door that God opens for us. We know it won't be easy, but we will enjoy every moment of it and will never forget where God has brought us from and what He has done. All the glory goes to Him, forever!
